How about a fast train connection between the Channel Tunnel and Inverness? The +600 miles could be cut down to a three to four hour trip at the most - say, breakfast, attending to some messages and a cosy tea break. Including planning and construction it can be done in about 4 years, the Chinese say - and have done it.

Besides building the track Wuhan to Guangzhou Chinese workers simultaneously built nine (!) stations and they ordered 100 new trains from SIEMENS, BOMBARDIER and ALSTOM; a nice contract one would think, definitly for the shareholders and the Chinese work force as all the trains will be built in China!When will we begin to attend to future?
